Party of $$$Zion: pro-Palestinians need not apply!

The Centrist wing of the One Party with the Two Wings strikes again (or: Ziowankers will be Ziowankers).
MINNESOTA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMAN KEITH ELLISON lost his bid to become the chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Saturday after a scorched-earth smear campaign targeting his religious faith, his affinity for the Nation of Islam in his youth, and his support for Palestinian rights alongside a secure Israel.
Instead, the majority of the DNC’s voting members chose former labor secretary Tom Perez to lead the party. After two rounds of voting in Atlanta, Perez netted 235 votes to Ellison’s 200.
Perez was widely perceived as being brought into the race by allies of President Obama, former Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and other members of the party establishment. One of the speakers who introduced his nomination, South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jamie Harrison, also works as a corporate lobbyist for the D.C.-based Podesta Group. After neither candidate hit a majority of votes in the first round of voting, Harrison was on the floor, whipping votes for Perez.
Ellison — a black man, a Bernie Sanders supporter, and the first Muslim elected to Congress — earned initial support from many Democrats until a strong backlash from the Obama and Clinton camps and prominent pro-Israeli activists.

  1. Sadly, I think the main reasons Ellison was not elected chair was because of his faith. But it wasn't from feelings about Islam inside the party, but rather because they knew that having a Muslim as head of the party would make it hard for them to reach out to the working class, who've been seduced by the anti-Islam fear-mongering of the Republicans. It's just sad. But it was a politically calculated decision on the part of the members. On top of that, Perez has a Labor background while Ellison really doesn't, and the Dems are well aware that they have to regain the working class vote. This wasn't some "Zionist" cabal in the DNC to bring him down. They're not happy about this situation either, but reality sometimes trumps justness. Hopefully, in the near future, this sort of situation won't happen. Hopefully.

  2. Sorry Jersey, but I think you don't really get it. The Party and Mordor in general, doesn't support dissent on the Zionist Entity.

  4. Saban doesn't pick the DNC chair. There aren't enough hardcore "Zionists" (pro-Likud types, I assume you mean) in the Democratic Party for Ellison's faith or background to have mattered in and of itself. It was about how to get back into the politics of the working class. Meanwhile, Ted Cruz (Rep. Likud), made cracks at the CPAC at the thought of a Muslim running the DNC. The working class in America is very leery of Islam and immigrants in general these days. This is a consequence of economic stagnation and fear mongering. If we don't have upward mobility, we can't absorb new immigrants as well, there's more tension. Republicans distract them with fear, and have been doing it quite successfully for a long time. Just the same, the Dems did nominate a man with Latin name. The Republican Latin men, Rubio and Cruz, are a joke and a sociopath. Perez has some inside on the working class and getting the party more involved with the sprawl of service sector workers out there looking to move up. Ellison is a movement guy. Personally, I'm glad they went with Perez. Ellison, from what I understand, will be his deputy. I am not happy, though, that Ellison's faith did matter in this decision, for a variety of reasons, none of them to be happy about.

  5. Oh, though I did register in the last election as a Democrat to vote for Sanders in a closed primary, I am switching back to NPA asap. I am not a partisan Democrat.

  6. Even Mike Pence fell for the 'Perez for DNC 'message and spent a day restoring gravestones at a "vandalized" Jewish Cemetary. Who did it? I guess we'll never know...
